Welcome to ICMI-19

Welcome to ICMI2019, the 1st International Conference on Machine Intelligence.

In recent years, artificial intelligence has attracted attention as a key for economic growth in developed and developing countries. The attention has been focused mainly on developing new deep learning-based Information Communication Technology and Robotics. Although recently developed deep learning technology certainly excels in extracting certain patterns, there are many limitations. Machine intelligence paves the way for machines to have reasoning abilities which is analogous to human.

The research field of machine intelligence is interdisciplinary, and uses knowledge and methods from many areas such as psychology, biology, signal processing, physics, information theory, mathematics, and statistics. The development of machine intelligence will keep cross-fertilizing these research areas. The aim of this conference is to provide a platform for researchers to share up-to-date scientific achievements in this field.

ICMI2019 will take place in the Kitakyushu International Conference Center, which is located in the center of Kitakyushu City, where Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) is located, has a long and storied history of engineering and is home to many companies engaged in heavy industry and other areas. In recent years, many world-leading industrial robot manufacturers (e.g. YASKAWA Electric), robot start-ups, AI-related companies, and Internet of Things-related companies have been set up in this city. Given this environment, Kyutech has strong ties to a wide range of companies and has, for many years, carried out collaborative research and development with these companies. It is anticipated that this conference will accelerate research and development in the areas of robotics, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things and help move these industries forward to the world.
